2025 Summer Camps for Rising 2nd Graders

These camps are designed for children who have completed 1st grade. They must be entering 2nd grade in order to participate.

Summer Camps at The Schiele Museum are exciting opportunities to explore science and the natural world. Campers can look forward to hands-on activities and a variety of learning experiences within the museum, outdoors on the Nature Trail, and on carefully selected trips in the local community. 

Organized activities: 9 AM – 4 PM.

(Drop-off begins at 7:30 and ends at 5:30.)

 Registration opens January 8 at 12:00 PM for museum members.

Camp 201

Minecraft Mania

May 27-30*

Campers will practice teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity through outdoor activities and crafts that connect Minecraft concepts to the real world.

Camp 202

Robot Rookies

June 2-6

At this thrilling robot camp, campers race robots, build solar-powered robotic
bugs, and create scribble bots while tackling exciting STEM challenges.

Camp 203

Surviving the Wild

June 9-13

Learn crucial survival skills such as building campfires, fishing, and tracking, while enjoying the great outdoors through games and fun!

Wild About Wildlife

June 16-20

Ever wonder what kinds of animals may live in your own backyard? Discover
frogs, turtles, bugs, birds, and MORE as we learn what animals live here in the Piedmont.

Spontaneous Science

June 23-27

Safety goggles and lab coats are at the ready for spontaneous science! Young scientists will experience, learn, and attempt a new science experiment every day.

Young Engineers

June 30-July 3*

Campers will combine the excitement of adventure books with the thrill of hands-on engineering projects. They’ll work in teams to solve creative problems and compete in fun challenges.

Eco-Explorers

July 7-11

Campers will enjoy creative projects and physical activities to keep them engaged and inspired as they connect with nature and diverse habitats.

Wild, Wild West

July 14-18

Howdy, y’all! Campers will explore the legacy of cowboys and pioneers through engaging crafts, immersive storytelling, and outdoor activities inspired by frontier life.

Camp 209

Cretaceous Camp

July 21-25

Step back in time to the Cretaceous Period, where campers will explore a world filled with fascinating dinosaurs—from the fierce theropods to the gentle giants.

Game of Life

July 28-August 1

This camp is designed to make the Game of Life an immersive, hands-on experience where campers not only play, but also learn life skills, build confidence, and have fun!

Junior Zookeepers

August 4-8

Calling all animal lovers! Campers will learn what The Schiele’s animal ambassadors eat, what they play with, and how they are cared for.

Payment in full is due at the time of registration.
Check dates carefully. No refunds are available. 
Camp registration deadline is one week before the start of the program.
