2024 Summer Camps for Rising 1st Graders

Camps are designed for children who have completed Kindergarten. They must be entering first grade in order to participate.

Summer camp at The Schiele Museum is an exciting opportunity to explore science and the natural world. Campers can look forward to hands-on activities and a variety of learning experiences within the museum, outdoors on the Nature Trail, and on carefully selected trips in the local community. 


Organized activities: 9 AM – 4 PM.

(Drop-off begins at 7:30 and ends at 5:30.)

June 10-14

Humans have “read” the night sky throughout all of history. Want to learn how? Journey across the universe to search for the stories hidden in the sky, then create your own.

The Art of Science

June 17-21

Can science be art? Can art be science? Unleash your inner artist when you learn to create masterpieces using scientific methods.

Green Thumb Camp

June 24-28

Dig into the art and science of growing summer vegetables on The Farm! Roll up your sleeves, get dirty, and discover the secrets of nurturing plants from seed to harvest.

Scales and Tails

July 1-5*

Can you win a staring contest with a snake? Or camouflage like a chameleon? Explore the wonderful world of reptiles through close encounters, nature hikes, and behind-the-scenes tours.

Build bridges that withstand weight challenges. Construct a maze built for a robotic bug. Learn teamwork, problem-solving, and a love for all things engineering.

Journey through time without leaving the museum! Explore human history by traveling through the events that have shaped civilization using your imagination and exciting hands-on activities.

What will you invent? Combine household items, science and your imagination to create games, activities, and projects that will blow your mind!

From towering dinosaurs to microscopic creatures, dig into the fascinating world of fossils through hands-on activities, exciting games, and creative crafts.

Welcome to a week-long celebration of creativity, imagination, and hands-on crafting! Explore your artistic side through colors, textures, and endless possibilities.
