Yuki is an American Mink found in most of the United States and most of Canada. He received his name from how white his fur is. “Yuki” is Japanese for “snow” or “happiness.” He is 4 years old and suffers from albinism. Albinism in mammals means their skin tends to be more sensitive and they commonly have trouble with eyesight. Since Yuki struggles with sight, crinkly or squeaky toys provide better enrichment for him.
Yuki arrived at The Schiele in January 2020. He was discovered by PAWS (Paws Animal Wildlife Sanctuary) in South Carolina. Yuki does not participate in educational programs as he can get overly excited.Though, Yuki stays on exhibit to serve as an example of his species and his condition.
You can find Yuki on display in The Hall of North American Wildlife.
